25 Master’s and Doctoral Reading Courses
The Master’s and Doctoral Reading courses (ENGL 6909/7909) are designed to be taken the semester before a student enrolls for M.A. thesis or Ph.D. dissertation hours. These courses focus upon foundational research, reading, and writing of an introductory chapter (Master’s) or prospectus (Doctoral). The Master’s and Doctoral Reading courses count as part of the minimum course requirements toward the degree and may only be taken once. M.A. students seeking the non-thesis degree option cannot take the Master’s Reading course. Proposals for Master’s and Doctoral Reading courses must be submitted by August 1 for the Fall semester, December 19 for the Spring semester, and May 1 for the Summer term.
