Attendance Policy

MTSU Administration requires that instructors complete an attendance report for each course each semester. There are financial aid implications for non-attendance. There are two urgent university attendance requirements, both used for financial aid purposes:

  1. Within the first two weeks of class, instructors must report whether each student has attended or checked in.
  2. At the end of each term, instructors administering an “F” must submit a “Last Date of Attendance” for each failing student. This requirement can be met by class attendance, academic-based email communication, or assignment submission dates. (Visit here for specific instructions, and here for LDA FAQs.)

Outside of these universal requirements, instructors may set attendance expectations that align with individual teaching philosophies.
