Program Overview

12 Celebration of Student Writing (CSW)

Hosted by General Education English, this writing exhibition introduces the wider university community to the exciting work happening in English classes by showcasing a wide variety of student writing, from projects developed in first-year writing and sophomore literature classes to academic and creative compositions by advanced English students.

Instructors are encouraged to ask students to create low-tech, interactive visual presentations (individual or collaborative), such as posters, artifacts, and/or small-scale reenactments (dressing up as a person, character, etc.) so that students might practice writing multimodally and for an audience outside of the classroom. One way to encourage your students to participate in this event is to allow them to present at the CSW in lieu of taking a Final Exam. It’s also an excellent opportunity for first-year writing students to present their research papers to a new audience!
