The Power of Perspective-Taking 

This article discusses the benefits of perspective-taking.  Some of these include:

  • decrease prejudice and stereotyping
  • help negotiators gain a larger share of the pie
  • create value and maximize, even expand, the size of the pie
  • make teams more effective and more creative
  • prompt managers into deeper, more complex thinking that results in better outcomes.

Learning to perspective-take

The article also discusses factors that make people more likely to take others’ perspectives. Be sure to note the ideas given to increase this skill.

The dark side of perspective-taking
