Preface to the Second Edition

We would like to express our gratitude to the original authors who made the GenEd English Faculty Guide possible in its first edition–thank you to Kate Pantelides, Erica Stone, Caroline LaPlue and Nich Krause.

With the second edition, we focused on providing more sample projects and guiding materials for each course. We were incredibly lucky to have both faculty and graduate teaching assistants volunteer to contribute their course materials and insights to expand this OER. As a program, we’ve also gone through quite a few fundamental changes–including the launch of the True Blue Core and transitioning learning management systems from D2L to Canvas. One of the benefits of a text like this is that we can respond quickly and effectively to the ever-evolving nature of a dynamic department and education program.

We hope that this new edition serves your needs in teaching across the Gen Ed English curriculum at MTSU. As this book is a collaborative effort and ongoing project, we are always happy to make improvements and take suggestions for future editions into consideration.
