Module I, Weeks 2-4: The Shadow of the Ancients

No student can begin a study of Early European Literature without first understanding the extensive shadow cast by the Classical cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome.  We begin our look with a brief consideration of the literature of the Greeks, and then we will see how these traditions were syncretized into the literature of the Romans.  Don’t be intimidated by this long list–we’ll be reading selections, just enough to cover the “key points.”
